PLANNING FOR PEOPLE

GREENING the KURILPA PENINSULA

Kurilpa Futures ‘Greening Group’ is dedicated to the care and improvement of the growing of things and green places on the Kurilpa Peninsula.

We meet monthly, share ideas and local knowledge, and strategise short and long term greening actions that will benefit the community.

We interact with local government representatives, are a voice for the environment, share with other community groups and get dirty with gloves, hats and garden tools. Our thinking and actions are always alert to issues surrounding the transforming climate and rapid growth of local population density.

Our greening actions are evident in footpath trees planted as part of The Trees Project which aims to increase tree canopy in conjunction with BCC. The trees are thriving along Vulture Street from BSHS to WESS. Native trees and garden beds have been planted with Queen’s Jubilee grant money on Beaconsfield St Reserve. Greening Kurilpa maintains the iconic orange footpath planters in Boundary and Vulture Streets.

The Greening Group welcomes community contact, information and suggestions, new members and gloved hands. Please contact us if you are keen and green.
