SUBMISSION to Brisbane City Council.
Space was found for 45+ trees, in existing garden beds, in this strip and a further dozen or so trees if some asphalt was removed from the footpath. We also identified an opportunity for a pocket park between Turin and Paris Streets. The SUBMISSION, indicated above, was made to Council and subsequently members of our group met with the Council’s arborist and Councillor Jonathan Sri to walk the precinct to discuss the logistics, including any conflicts, with infrastructure and how to ensure visibility for vehicles.
Some locations where trees could be located

The result is that Council committed to planting over 30 advanced trees in Vulture St before summer starts.
Planting so far

Council requested some help in removing succulents from 2 garden beds, that were established by a very keen local resident, a rosemary bush and a strelitzia to enable more trees to be planted.

The New Trees
We are aiming to continue to collaborate with BCC on street tree planting to make the Kurilpa Peninsula a wonderful living, green neighbourhood in the heart of the city.
